SG System Requirements
These are the requirements for installing and operating the System Galaxy (SG) Software, its database, and GCS Services.

NOTICE: System Galaxy software is supported on a Microsoft Server OS for administrative and diagnostic purposes. The SG Database and GCS services are all supported on a Server OS. However, A Server OS is not supported for a “standalone system” or for a “workstation” (i.e. monitoring, badging, enrollment or biometric enrollment, etc). A standalone system or client workstations is supported on a Windows operating system. The computers must meet PC specifications. Be sure to consult your Galaxy Technical Support before making time-sensitive and cost-sensitive decisions.
BADGING NOTICE FOR NEW INSTALLS:System Galaxy 11 offers idProducer Badging solution to create/design and print badges.
BADGING NOTICE FOR SYSTEM UPGRADES: As of System Galaxy v11.8.6, the older Card Exchange and EPI Builder (GA Imaging) are no longer supported. System Galaxy will pop up an obsolescence warning message whenever the operator prints or previews a badge. Before upgrading an older system, you should consider switching to idProducer. Please consult your authorized technical support concerning system upgrades for badging solutions.

You are planning a large-scale system install or upgrade.

You are upgrading or expanding a system using 3rd Party applications.

You are upgrading from a version that is more that 2 versions old.

You are installing an integrated 3rd Party application.

Operating System Requirements
All supported operating systems are required to have their latest service packs installed.
MICROSOFT WINDOWS OS

Windows® 11 Pro (64-bit) with latest service pack.

Windows® 10 Pro (64-bit) with latest service pack
MICROSOFT SERVER OS

Windows Server® 2022 (64-bit)

Windows Server® 2019 (64-bit)

Windows Server® 2016 (64-bit)
IMPORTANT: Some 3rd party technologies may not be supported on a Server OS (e.g. biometric enrollment, credential enrollment devices).
IMPORTANT: System Galaxy client software is supported on Server OS for diagnostic purposes only. SG Operator may need user privileges to the license files in the System Galaxy directory.
Database Requirements
All supported versions of MSSQL are required to have their latest service packs installed.
SUPPORTED VERSIONS

System Galaxy is packaged with MS SQL Server Express® 2022 (64b).

System Galaxy uses SQL Native Client (ODBC driver) for database connections.
The SQL Client components must be installed on every computer/workstation running System Galaxy Software or GCS Services.

DATABASE SIZES
The maximum size of the System Galaxy database is based on the MS SQL Engine you use (this is imposed by Microsoft).

Microsoft SQL Express 2022 max. size = 10 GB.

Microsoft SQL Server® Enterprise has an unlimited size.
UPGRADING DATABASES
When you upgrade the System Galaxy software on an existing system, you will also upgrade your databases.

Also you may need to upgrade your MS-SQL Engine, depending on which version of System Galaxy your are upgrading from.

When upgrading to System Galaxy 11.8.6, you must be running MSSQL 2016 (or higher).
